We had our Christmas Lunch today with the Lunch Club. It was delicious!
Ian made a special effort and decorated his beard.
After lunch we performed to the Lunch Club. We played Silent Night and Jingle Bells on the recorder and we sang 3 songs as well.

The primary 7's were invited to switch on the Christmas lights. We got our photos taken having a practice in the morning because the forecast was bad for night time. At night we ran outside and turned the lights on while everyone else watched from inside, then everyone went into the hall for mulled wine (for the adults),mince pies, shortbread and singing.

Pupil council have decided that, in a bid to try to tackle table manner issues, they would have a competition for the most well mannered table.
The winning table will receive a fancy table setting one lunch, with their food served to them at the table.
We have already seen an improvement in table manners in the dining room.

We worked with the Shapinsay Development Trust and Lateral North to create a 3D contour map of the island. We also thought about what we would like to see in Shapinsay over the next 5 years. We had lots of good ideas, and the Trust will now take forward our ideas together with those from the rest of the people on the island.
One comment from the adults working on the 5 year plan was “If the kids can say what they really think then so can I” - so well done children, you are inspiring the adults on the island!
