Christmas Play

Our Shapinsay Nativity was a great success. Well done to all the children who performed brilliantly, the staff and to everyone who came to watch.

We have the first snow of this winter!

Children in Need and Poppy Scotland

Today everyone came to school in pyjamas and have raised £110.30 for Children in Need.

We also raised £101.49 for Poppy Scotland.

Well done everybody!



Collaborative Day 1.11.13

All the children in P1 - P7 went to the Picky Centre in Kirkwall to join other small schools in Orkney. The children had the opportunity to get to know other children in their age groups and all had a great time.

Inservice Training - P4C

Ever wondered what the staff do on inservice days? Today we did Philosophy for Children (P4C) training with Dounby School. We all felt it was a good day and are raring to go in both schools using the P4C techniques.

If you would like to know more about P4C please ask or visit We may well do a session for any interested adults as well as doing it with the children.

End of term assembly

It was great to see so many folk there for our end of term assembly. Well done to all the children and a big thank you to Mr Miller and all the adults who have been helping with our orchestra. Next stop is Christmas!

Emotional Resilience Evening

Fruit Salad

We had fun making fruit salad. We all worked together to follow the recipe. Using the knives was tricky and we had to be careful. The older children helped the younger children and we all ate together.

School Orchestra

Since August the children have been working together to form a school orchestra. Thanks to Mr Miller and the adults who have been helping with this. Our first performance is at the end of term assembly on Thursday 11th October at 11am.
