This year we went to one of the annual tag rugby festivals where most of the schools in Orkney play rugby. It is a chance to meet and make new and old friends. We had loads of fun we had two very fast people who scored most of our goals. Thank you to all the organisers and teachers who made it possible.

We have been learning about microorganisms and how some of them are in food and drinks. Microorganisms wear down rotten things and make them into compost.

Primary 4 - 7 have been weaving dolls and gods eyes. It was a long process  - we had to weave the legs and then part of the stomach .Then the arms separately .

We collected rocks at bag the bruck and are painting them to be guinea pigs, owls, minions, bugs and penguins.

We have also been making mosaics out of coloured stones and we are nearly done.

Our trip to Kirkwall

Posted by Administrator Thursday, May 14, 2015 10:04:00 AM

We went on a trip to Kirkwall to see the illustrator of horrible histories,Martin Brown

First we stopped off at the bank for an hour as we had been learning about banks last term. We met a man called Dean there and he showed us round the bank he gave us some activities to do.  Next we went to the library.

We ate our packed lunches in a small room. We then got showed the library and the Dewey system -  we got given quizzes to fill in and complete. We also borrowed French books.

Martin Brown taught us how to draw and he signed our books.

Orcadian Dialect

Posted by Administrator Tuesday, December 02, 2014 4:36:00 PM

We have been trying to learn more about the Orcadian Dialect as we think people should use it more. Pupil Council have made it one of their targets too. We have created an Orkney words display (P1 - 3 liked our work so much they wanted to do some too). Can you guess what the words mean? Lift the flaps (if you're in school; it's a bit tricky on the web) to find out....

We have also had Councillor Harvey Johnson helping us - he presents the Radio Orkney word game Wassigo and went through some Orkney poems with us.
