Magnetic Games

We have been learning about magnets and we made our own magnetic games. They are fun to play!

We have been learning about forces with Miss Ross. Push and pull are forces - you move objects by pushing or pulling them. You can't see forces but you can see their effect.

First we went to the playpark to explore how we make things move by pushing or pulling them.

We then became scientists and tried to find out what happened when we pushed air with different things (fans, straws and bottles).

We found out that we could push more air with some things than others and that made the object move further. Which do you think pushed more air - the straw, fan or bottle?

Playing with different toys

We are really lucky because lots of people have given us toys to use while we learn about toys. We are really enjoying playing with them!

We have a new tent in the classroom too and it's been fun using it as a cosy reading corner.

Our favourite toys

We each brought in our favourite toys and we did some writing about them. Then we used our IT skills to take photos and insert them into our work on the computer. P3 added borders as well and remembered to use paragraphs.

You can see our work by clicking here.

Toys in the past

This term our topic is about toys. We visited lunch club to find out about their favourite toys when they were young. We found out their favourite toys were dolls, cars, wooden blocks and train sets. They didn't have things like ipads!

P1 - 3 learned about Judaism, thinking about what Jews believe and how they worship. We worked together to make a display.

Our David Balfour Book

Click here to download our David Balfour and Shapinsay book. We each made a page, having learned how to insert photos.

A trip round the village.

As part of our project about David Balfour we will be making a book about him. We went on a walk round the village so we could take photos for our book and we will then learn how to insert photos using the computer.

We have been thinking about thinking. We made thinking beards to help us remember the different ways we can think.

White - finding facts

Red - feelings

Yellow - good things

Black - risks

Green - what if...?

Blue - thinking about thinking.

Balfour Castle trip continued....

We have made our own secret passage in our role play area! It's been great fun using it!

We learned how to write a recount and we wrote about our trip to the castle. Aren't our recounts great? We talked about our Success Criteria before we wrote the recounts and agreed that they needed to make sense, be about what we had done, be in chronological order, be interesting, have correct full stops and capital letters and include a picture. At the end we reviewed our work and we think we have met the Success Criteria.
