Posts From December, 2014

We have been learning about the story of Christmas. We made a display of the Nativity by drawing the people and animals. Then we wrote the story from each perspective.

In Art we made Christmas trees from hessian and felt with Miss Angier.

We have been learning about the Jewish festival of light - Hannukah. We read the story of the Maccabees and learned about the miracle of the oil.

P3 researched how Hannukah is celebrated.

We made latkes using potatoes, eggs and flour. Then Ian fried them for us - Hannukah food is usually fried to remind Jewish people about the miracle of the oil. They were yummy!

We listened to Hava Nagila while we were eating - it is a Hebrew song that means "Let's Rejoice".

Independent Learning Time

We work hard in ILT - here are some of the things we've been doing.

Using loom bands - we have been making lots of things and we have also taught Miss Clements and Ian how to make things too.

Experimenting - we are trying to make crystals. These form in the same way as stalactites in a cave (like our role play area). Nothing has happened after one day - we are not sure how long it will take!

Making a fireplace with the nursery children - we did well with the brick pattern.
